Chime Checking Account App — Don’t Accidentally Sign Up for “Credit Builder” Secured CC

When signing up for a Chime Checking account, as part of the application process they have you check some checkboxes agreeing to Terms of Service. Often people just blindly click all the checkboxes to get through an application more quickly.

Chime sneaks in a Credit Builder Secured Credit Card application as part of this “Terms of Service” agreement for the checking account. In my opinion, this is deceptive and they shouldn’t be allowed to do this, but I am no lawyer.

As you can see in the video below, by clicking those two optional checkboxes, it does the credit card application for you. My boyfriend did this accidentally and now he is 5/24 and can’t get a Chase credit card.

We gave Chime a call to cancel it right after he made the mistake of doing it and they wouldn’t cancel it. The representative was very unhelpful.

So don’t make the same mistake unless you want the 5/24 hit! Again, I do think this is very dishonest of them to sneak in an entire credit card application as a checkbox in a list of check boxes agreeing to different points of Terms of Service related to the CHECKING account.

P.S. I just now noticed in the video below, they also have “I agree to all” checkbox — SMH so deceptive. 🤦🏻‍♀️
